MANUEL GÓMEZ PANTOJA ES EL SARGENTO GARCÍA EN LA REVOLCUIÓN DE LA "A"

Manuel es un veterano pescador salinero de la Isla de León, actualmente denominada San Fernando. De origen gitano, la crisis económica y de la pesca le llevan a convertirse en chatarrero marismeño, recogiendo en la bajamar lo que buenamente encuentra perdido o abandonado por las aguas, entre el fango de la bahía de Cádiz.

Trabaja siempre ayudado por una de sus hijas, la silenciosa Elena, y por un joven muchacho de Burkina Fasso, Marc, llegado en patera a la Península Ibérica tras cruzar el estrecho de Gibraltar, y a quien la familia de Manolín dio acogida. Manolín tiene una peculiar teoría sobre la inexistencia del tiempo, sobre la simultaneidad y las eternidades. Por si fuera poco, se toma cual la viva reencarnación del heroico sargento García, adquiriendo un ineludible compromiso histórico antiimperialista, intentando agitar la sumisa realidad social que le rodea: Es la que él llama La Revolución de la A, que pretende la libertaria reconquista de la inocencia para nuestra humana especie.

Su carisma sin igual le llevará a convencer a su familia, vecinos y amigos, de la necesidad de plantarle cara al perverso e invisible enemigo, en nuestra época, y también en las pasadas y en las futuras. Se constituye así una cuadrilla revolucionaria, compuesta de personas tan extraordinarias como anónimas, aceptando todas ser cómplices de los delirios de Manolín alias “Sargento García”, y asumiendo camaleónicamente diversos personajes decimonónicos de “La Pepa”.

Desgraciadamente y como dice el refrán “En casa del herrero cuchillo de palo”, porque su otra y afrancesada hija, Belén, caerá locamente enamorada de un supuesto desertor francés y músico militar de las tropas invasoras napoleónicas.
